Dear Nueva Community,

We are thrilled to share with you our plan to move from a fully remote learning model to Nueva Flex, our hybrid approach to learning in the coming months. Although we will continue to adapt this to the needs of our students, you will see that the core principles it is built upon are exactly the same as what you have become accustomed to in our remote learning program. These continue to be the anchor for all learning models, whether students are engaged in activities within a classroom, Zooming in from home, or calling in from another location on campus.

I invite you to look through this document to better understand how Nueva Flex works, and encourage you to appreciate a few of its main features:

A Commitment to the Same Design Principles
At Nueva, we learn by doing and learn by caring. That's not going to change. You will see that we are staying true to the original design principles we established for remote learning to ensure there is integrity in the learning process for all learners in our Nueva Flex model.

The Capacity to Adjust with Agility and Flexibility
As we have always emphasized, moving between onsite and remote learning has never been a discrete, binary process for us. The toggle between these two extremes is much more continuous. You will see the fluidity we have embedded into Nueva Flex to maintain this agility.

An Openness to Apply Best Practices from Remote Learning to Our Hybrid Approach
We have learned a lot from our various iterations of remote learning about what works best for students and teachers. Some practices have worked so well that it makes sense to continue with them in our hybrid model, sometimes even when we are engaged in onsite learning.

We hope you gain a good understanding of how we are transitioning from remote learning to Nueva Flex by reading through this information. We have also created a Fall 2020 Reopening webpage with a newly updated section of frequently asked questions. As always, feel free to ask questions and offer feedback so that we can continue to improve upon the Nueva Way during these challenging times.
