Dear Nueva Grandparents,
It was a pleasure to virtually meet many of you in November at Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day, and to share the inspiring, creative and thoughtful learning that happens at Nueva. Beginning the celebration, hearing where you were calling in from, was truly spectacular and highlighted the expansiveness of our global Nueva community. Your role in our students’ lives—your grandchildren—is vital, and we are immensely grateful you are part of our school family.
In October, we launched our Nueva Flex hybrid learning model, which provides our student-centered education to families in person and remotely. As we continue to navigate this global pandemic, the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff remain at the forefront, and we have implemented weekly on campus COVID testing and strict community guidelines. I invite you to learn more about our Nueva Flex program, and health and safety protocols by clicking here.
To ensure proper social distancing, additional classroom space has been needed now more than ever, and we are thrilled to share the completion of two building projects on the Hillsborough campus. Our current café was expanded, providing a much-needed versatile larger community gathering space. Adjacent to the café is our new Science and Environmental Science Center (SEC), a facility that promotes interdisciplinary studies encompassing humanities, science, the arts and service learning, as we collaboratively address climate change and other environmental issues (click here to watch our SEC video).
As I enter the second half of my first year at Nueva, I remain humbled and grateful to be a member of this exceptional institution. The future is bright because of our young people, who every day at Nueva have the agency to explore, experiment and develop into the change-makers the world needs.
I wish you and your families health and safety, and I look forward to the opportunity for us to gather in community once again.
In partnership,
Lee Fertig |
